Writing Goals

I have set up this page with a low-key writing accountability meter. Spring 2025 was patchy insofar as progress on the book I am working on. I wrote, but I wished for more routine habits than I lived up to during the semester. Now that it is late May and I am working on Chapter Two, I mocked up a tracker, which I will update with weekday writing activity. It’s crude, in that I am only recording wordcounts toward chapter goals, but if this does what I hope for it to do, it will keep me on pace to have Chapters Two and Three fully drafted by mid-August.

And of course the usual caveats, qualifiers, and hedges apply. I may at times interject other writing tasks, e.g., an external promotion review, the two fall conference presentations I have promised, an article review due in mid-late June, and so on. But for the most part, the book-prioritizing routines are front and center. -DM, May 2025
