Dear Dream Interpreter,

Dear Dream Interpreter,

Sorry for not writing until now and for sometimes saying aloud that dream reading is worth a pinch of sh!t.  I hardly ever remember dreams, but the other night I had two vivid visions.

In the first one, I dreamt that this stupid house never sold--never ever sold.  The details are fuzzy, but there were a heap of for sale signs in the front yard.  Hundreds of for sale signs piled together, bent, rusty.  And I felt disappointment. And it was not easy to cut the tall weeds growing up between them.

In the other dream, I was standing in the lunch line, about twenty people back from the ticket-taker at the cafeteria for Beal City Public Schools.  Who butts in from the back of the line, cutting, along with three of his friends?  Shaquille O'Neal, that's who.  WTF?! I couldn't see his head, but the Lakers jersey and No. 34 gave him away.  He and his friends pushed by us and into the kitchen.  The end.

So what could all this mean, Dream Interpreter?

Freaky! I don't know what to make of it. Are you right-handed?

Posted by: Derek at July 19, 2004 10:13 PM

I always dreamed of my boyfriend with other girl. everytime i saw them i was running after them to ask my boyfriend if he still love me. but i never had a chance of getting into it because they were walking too fast. inmy dream the girl has no face but I saw her looking at me and telling myboyfriend that i was near them. so my boyfriend did was walked fast nd hold the armsof that girl so that i will not have a chance of talking to them. It was always a dream in the night where i always cry hard and until i was awake. what wasmy dream all about?

Posted by: Malou at July 26, 2004 12:41 AM

Hi Malou,

Did you see the face of the other woman? I'll call it a classic case of relationship security anxiety. Did you have the feeling that your boyfriend's fast walking was brought on by something he feared or by his wish to avoid you? Please know I'm not a licensed psychic.

In my latest freaky dream, i was sleeping and my dog was playing in my room. I had a fish tank on a table in the middle of the room, and my dog pulled in on herself. I ran to her and got her out. She was alive, but bleeding and had a huge bump on her head. I was cradling her like a baby, and she looked up at my shaking. I was trying to call to get her help, but I remember thinking that 911 wouldn't help me with my dog.

Posted by: Maria at July 28, 2004 8:49 AM

Dogs are social animals, right? Maybe the fish tank crisis represents contact between your dog and other pets. Does the dog interact well with other animals? Have you ever worried that s.he might nip at playmates in the park? The cradling thing makes me think that you're a caring pet owner who worries that the pup remains healthy through sometimes precarious interactions with other animals. Maybe?

A little while back I had a dream that one of my friends was going to get married. I dismissed this as a "freaky dream" but the next day she was showing off her new engagement ring at work. All of my other friends thought that this was very strange and began to call me a psychic. I told them it was just a coincidence. I didn't have another dream like that one for quite a long time, that is, until now. Just the other day I had a dream that another friend of mine had gotten in a horrible car accident and died. What could this mean?

Posted by: KK at July 28, 2004 6:59 PM

It could mean all sorts of things, I guess. I like to think that death dreams are the result of indigestion...overdoses of milk and cookies before bedtime, etc. Whatever the case, it can't hurt to check in with your pal and make sure everything's okay. You can decide whether to say anything about the dream, but I generally shy away from spreading doom on premonitions that visit when I'm sleeping. Or there's this.

Me and someone (i don't know who) went into Stephs house while no one was home. I don't know why. Suddenly I wasn't in her house anymore but somewhere else. Carol was there with a "friend" of hers. I don't know who the woman was but I got the feeling that she was in the middle of the road over everything that happened next...not taking either side. Stephanie was there suddenly. All I can really remember about her was that she had on a red tank top. Carol was ranting and raving about me messing around on her and Stephanie was just looking at her with this expression on her face like she hadn't believed me all the times I had told her about how Carol was and now she was seeing her in true form for the very first time.
I didn't knbow what to say at first. I was afraid. Carol never accused Steph of anything but I just remember FEAR. Then carol turned on Steph. She began accusing her and calling her dirty rotten names. The rage inside of me that comes to me when Steph is hurt or threatened rose up. I looked at Carol then Steph and told Carol "I love her". When I said that it was like time stopped. Stephanie looked at me then looked at her then back to me. I looked at her and said "I love you" right in front of Carol. Steph said something but it was too low for me to hear. I asked her what she had said and she looked at me. She stuttered a little bit and said "Yeah, I think I do. I really think I do. No..I do. I love you" At that very moment EVERYTHING changed. It was like the planet shifted on it's axis and everything was set right. Steph reached over and took my hand. We left. Together. I remember riding off with her in a jeep with the top off.

What you think? I did Circle Saturday night. Prayed for a sign. Dreamed this at about 430 this morning. I know because the dog suddenly got up and went to the window making noises, not growls, at the back yard. I believe something, some spirit had been there giving me the message from the Goddess that I have so desperately needed to hear.
But what does it mean? The way I see it is that despite everything, no matter what things look like, when the time comes, the truth will come out and Steph will find the courage to say what is buried deep inside of her.

I keep having a dream that I'm walking and my legs just slowly get heavier n heavier til eventually I cant lift them enough to walk. What do you think this means?

Posted by: someone at August 6, 2004 7:32 PM

Im at my old house I used to live in when i was younger. I go into the old barn i used to have when i was younger. there is a horse inside that is dying. it is my horse, and i forgot to feed it and it's starving. so i go out into the field to pick wheat and grass to feed it and i dont pick a lot but i feed it to it anyways. while it's eating, i climb a ladder into the loft of the barn and find a house inside. i walk into the kitchen and open the fridge and inside is cheese, popsicles, and jello. i go into the living room and its decorated in antique victorian style. i go into the bedroom and has green wallpaper and there is a jewelry box sitting on the dresser. inside are necklaces and bracelets made of red beads. i go back down the ladder and find the horse and look around the stall. it is dead.

I used to have these dreams when i was about 4 or 5 years old it just kept re-occouring and would frighten me when i thought about going to sleep. the whole dream is in black white and grey no colour at all. Im in my room with no furniture. Im at one wall and a stranger is at the opposite wall, we are both kneeling down the stranger is facing me but im looking down, the room is slanted and the stranger is on the higher part. Both of us have our hands placed flat on our knees. Thats it thats the dream but also im looking at both figures from the centre of the room so I can us both. Also the stranger has no face its like a ghostly appearance, grey face with a darker grey where the eyes, nose and mouth should be. Please help this has been bugging me for years

Barbara (or is it Jim?),

Maybe this has already been resolved in these eleven days. Are you related to Carol and Steph? Are they friends?

I've heard of this happening with people whose circulation was irregular, who experienced numbness during sleep. I'd urge a modest exercise regimen, approved by your physician, of course, if there's any relationship between your dreams (about heavy legs) and your health when awake.

Disappointing to hear about the horse. Did you put on the jewelry? Was it familiar?

The Rompa,
Is it from a movie? Star wars?

Posted by: dmueller at August 14, 2004 12:35 PM

No definatly not I was not allowed to watch any films like that plus ive never been interested in it. I really cant get my head around it. Heres my recent dreams that i told someone and they said could mean something. I have many dreams but they all have something in common. im infearior. If im fighting someone i cant hurt them im i cut someone they dont bleed and if im dreaming of being with a woman its over before it even begins. Is there any reason why Im lower in my dreams and is there anything about my other dream that you can tell me?

Posted by: The Rompa at August 14, 2004 3:46 PM

Sorry, Rompa, but I'm not the best when it comes to monsters. Heck, I'm still scared witless from The Shining. Most I can do is speculate about the relationship between snacking just before bedtime and the weirdness that creeps in. I'd probably try sleeping with one eye open, cut out snacking before sleep, and definitely shelve Hume's stuff on dreams, reality.

heres my last dream which was a big shock because its the first dream i've had about this guy i like.

well im at church. but for some reason the inside is just like my grandparents house. well somehow while im there the church people find out that im gay. and theyre all yelling at me and calling me names. and then they run away and hide. and so i'm running around looking for chris (the guy that i like) because i think maybe he can help. but all the ppl are like hiding in obvious places. so i like walk by them and they like scream and i just kinda keep walking. i went to ther bathroom i was in the kitchen. and i was eating like a hot pocket and a wierd hot pocket style fruit thing at the same time. and this kid comes up to me. and we talk for a while. and so the little boy eventually walks off. i go to the bathroom and somehow i completely lose my clothes. and so the church people make me come out like im a robber in a house surrounded by the police. and so i grab a towel and wrap myself in it. and when i get out i run away.

itd be nice t know what this means.
and i was never able to find chris in my dream.

Posted by: josh at September 29, 2004 5:59 PM

The hot pocket *fruit* thing reminds me of a book called "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit" by Jeanette Winterson. One of my favorites, really. And in many ways, it speaks to your dream.

I don't know about the rest. The bit about losing clothes in the bathroom has me stumped. Thank goodness for the towel.

And about the church stuff: "Chris" is in Christianity and also in Christmas. But my best answer is to check out Winterson. It'll help the interpretive leap and make you feel better about unusual-seeming dreams. There are a few dream scenes spliced into her book, too.

Hey, i have a major crush on this boy at school, im in year 10. I had a dream the other day, this was it:
I was watching him play football with my friend by my side, i got so annoyed so i made her go up to him and tell her how i feel. I was watching over and he buried his hands in his face, my friend came back telling me that he doesn't like me. For some reason i wasn't all that gutted, in my dream, i forgot about the whole situation whilst talking to my mates.

That was my dream plz help!

Posted by: Sandeep Kaur at September 30, 2004 1:06 PM

Nice of your friend to approach the boy in question, and nice that you didn't feel gutted by the boy's cavalier indifference to your advances. I remember year 10; for me it was always best to strike up friendships before romance. But that was a while ago, too. And I was never any good at football. Just like I'm no good at interpreting dreams.

I had a baby cat which was given to me, but it although it was a cat i knew it was my baby. It could talk, and as I held it in my arms and it looked lovingly into my eyes, I felt so much love for it, it called me by my name and then when I told it I was its mummy, it was so happy it almost cried. It said, I love you mummy and I told it I love you so much too. It was a beautiful dream, if a little strange.

Posted by: Al at October 11, 2004 10:01 AM

Just the other day I watched the U.S. presidential candidate debates with someone who is a self-professed animal interpreter. Hears what the cats and dogs have to say. Really, if a little strange. But I don't think it lends insight to your dream.

Dear Dream Interpreter,
I wanted to get your feed back about this dreams:

for some reason me and my so were asleep in the car on the side of my aunt house. I use to leave in the house when i was a teenager, an up until my son turned one years old. I realize about 3 am in the morning that we were asleep in the car and proceeding to wake my son up. As i got out of the car, someone approached me from behind and put a gun to my back. It was strange because i felt their presence approaching me and i knew that they were going to put some kind of weapon to my back. I had my cell phone in my hands and i gave to them, i also had my purse on my arm and my keys in the other hand. I raised my hands in the air, as like to surender and they didn't take any thing but the cell phone. I jump in the car and sped off. When i returned i was afraid to pull up and park, and i told my husband to watch out. As i was crossing the street a car sped in front of me, and i turned to run they begin to shoot. i dont think i was shot, but all of a sudden my car would not work.

I've had dreams, too, where the machine stops working. Always wake up wondering whether it's deeper anxiety or just some kind of drone in the house like the furnace, a fan, a car outside or something.

dear dream interpreter,
i keep dreaming of my stepfather's mother and most of the times her greatgrandchildren. we used to be friends but now they are always in my dreams. what do you think that this dream means?

Posted by: melva at December 19, 2004 10:37 AM

Better to dream of friends than to dream of enemies (if you like sleeping, that is). Maybe it means they're on your mind. Why not call 'em up?
